Check out some photos from the recent Rockin’ PD event hosted at Buckingham Slate! This is an ongoing field trip series for K-12 earth science teachers as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) and the Virginia Association of Science Teachers (VAST).
The teachers were taught all about how Buckingham slate is quarried and worked into the final product. The site has been in operation since the late 1700’s and workers still split some of the slate by hand! Products from Buckingham slate go to projects all over the United States!
