Monthly Speaker Series
The FMVA Speaker Series is dedicated to providing the highest quality lecture experiences with a personal atmosphere. Our speakers are some of the leading experts in their fields and interests and are ready to share their passion with our members. FMVA hopes to provide a platform where the academic communities, industry professionals, and the public can engage with one another for the shared passion of rocks, minerals, and geology. We strive to find an appropriate mix of lectures that are easily accessible for all ages and levels of knowledge.

FMVA Social Events
FMVA also strives to produce a community here in our own state. Every three months, we host an in-person social event which allows members from across Virginia to meet and engage with one another. We understand that the rockhounding community has flourished through in-person activities and there is no replacing looking at rocks and minerals in person!
Meeting locations change each three months to accommodate as many local members as possible.

Young Mineral Collectors of VA/DC/MD
The Young Mineral Collectors group is an online, global mineral collecting community, in which over 1300 members from 50+ countries have come together to celebrate mineralogy, share knowledge, and create a positive environment for the newest generations of collectors. We welcome all collectors under 40 years of age. FMVA hosts a local community for YMC members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
